Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) of the cell cycle surveillance and DNA repair genes p53R2 (G>C 4694) and Reprimo (G>C 824) were tested for association with colorectal cancer (CRC) using population based disease-gene association methods using healthy individuals and diverticular disease (DD) patients as controls. No associations between the SNPs and CRC were discovered, however an association between the Reprimo G>C 824 SNP and diverticular disease was discovered on the basis of deviation from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.
