We present a cryogenic system for scanning tunneling microscope (STM) designed to operate from 300 K down to 0.3 K with magnetic fields up to 12 T and in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV). To achieve 0.3 K we use 3{sup left}He insert situated in UHV space with liquid nitrogen temperature of the walls. Low temperature insert can be moved on a distance about 260 mm for sample exchanging. A compact STM attached to a cold bottom of the 3{sup left}He heat exchanger. This device was designed for surface investigation of mesoscopic superconducting objects and nanostructures at ultra low temperature and in magnetic field.
