The objective of this project is to launch thin electrified liquid jets from a polymeric liquid surface and to produce dry fiber. Low air pressure was used to create a hemispherical shape of liquid film by blowing air under the liquid film. A liquid jet emerges from the apex of the charged hemispherical liquid dome shaped film due to an imbalance of electrical forces. This jet dries and forms the fibers. This approach has potential for increased production rates of electrospun fibers. Micron size fibers were collected on a grounded surface.
