摘要

The dependability of strength of rings made from sintered hot-forged Fe-0.8%C-1.0%Si-0.8%Cu P/M steels on fractional theoretical density and initial preform height-to-diameter ratio is presented in this paper. The ring crushing tests were executed under compressive loading using a sixty-tonne universal testing machine. The radial crushing strength increased with the fractional density of the rings. Observations of the fractographs revealed that the majority of the rings crushed in a highly brittle manner. A good empirical relation has also been established based on the experimental data between the fracture strength and fractional theoretical density of the rings.
