Air Change per Hour (ACH) or ventilation rate alone is typically specified in most ventilation standards. The Air Exchange Effectiveness (AEE) with which the outdoor air reaches the occupant breathing zone and provides exposure control to the occupant by effective dilution is equally important. The novel Single Coil Twin Fan (SCTF) air-conditioning and air distribution system is employed in a field aplication to evaluate the performance of three different types of air distribution systems. Despite comparable ACH values in all three scenarios, the findings clearly show that the Personalised Ventilation - Under Floor Air Distribution (PV-UFAD) and Displacement Ventilation (DV) systems result in considerably higher AEE in the occupied zones compared to the Mixing Ventilation (MV) system.
