In this paper, the oscillatory response in conductance of a platinum coil based sensor is reported. The Pt coils with different turns were constructed and tested in air environment containing carbon monoxide. Reproducible conductance oscillations were found under a certain range of operating currents. Within this current region, the range of CO concentrations over which oscillations appeared increased as the testing current increased. The lowest CO concentration at which oscillations were observed was 150ppm. By comparing sensor responses obtained in synthetic and ambient air, it was concluded that water vapor has an influence on oscillations and increases the frequency.
