AN INNOVATIVE TRAINING SYSTEM FOR ISO 9001 COMPLIANCE: DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN EFFECTIVE TRAINING SYSTEM UTILIZING A MATRIX-BASED APPROACH

This paper describes how the Quality Assurance Technical Support (QATS) Program developed and implemented an innovative training system utilizing a matrix approach to satisfy both our business needs and the ISO 9001:2000 training requirements. The system has been audited for compliance to the standard on numerous occasions both by first-party (internal) and third-party (external) auditors resulting in no non-conformance issues. The system more than satisfies the ISO 9001:2000 requirements and has been recognized as exemplary. The paper discusses the development of each matrix, how they are implemented for new personnel or personnel who accept new assignments, how they are periodically reviewed to ensure effectiveness, and the benefits to the organization and the client.
