Tubular CFRP boom which we have developed has attractive features with wrapping foldabilitv and high torsional stiffness for space deployment structure due to the closed cross-section. However, when using for actual mission, tubular CFRP boom must be designed in consideration of decrement properties of restoring force because a long term stored state lowers restoring force. This paper presents the decrement properties of deployment torque for tubular CFRP boom and hybrid tubular CFRP boom which is developed to overcome the decrement properties theoretically and experimentally, the results show the effects of installing convex tape quantitatively.
