THE MOON VILLAGE ASSOCIATION

The Moon Village is envisioned as a partnership larger and stronger than the International Space Station (ISS), where different nations, private companies and even philanthropists could collaborate on both the Moon's surface as well as in cis-lunar space. The Moon Village concept is not a traditional space program and it is based on an open, agile and evolvable architecture, that minimizes risks and costs shared among the different stakeholders, whilst accommodating the profit motives of the private sector. Moreover, the Moon Village will unfold in the context of a truly unique governance scheme by integrating from the very beginning the perspectives and interests of all the different stakeholders. Due to its evolvable architecture, the Moon Village will begin with small, low cost initiatives, in the near and mid term, and gradually will create permanent infrastructure, new products, applications, markets and services. It will serve as a catalyst for economic development, scientific research, education, and inspiration, stimulating a virtuous cycle of investments and growth. Ultimately, the Moon Village will create an innovation platform and research network for the 21st century and will redefine the way we design and govern international space exploration missions. Any large international space endeavor like the Moon Village will require the strong support of the decision makers and the public at large. The Moon Village vision shall win support from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, beyond the usual space community, including support from the civil society, industrial companies, the financial sector, arts and others. For that reason, in 2016. a group of space professionals started to work on the concept of the Moon Village Association, as a platform to build worldwide, and broad spectrum support for the Moon Village. The mission statement of the Moon Village Association is to "Provide a forum for development of the Moon Village ". This paper describes the evolution
