Coke and burden quality are of the utmost importance for the productivity of the blast furnace. Several quality parameters and there influence on the productivity are described in literature. The quality of the iron bearing burden will influence the permeability and thus productivity. Sidmar uses mainly sinter and its strategy with respect to the sinter quality will be discussed. This paper will also discuss the combination of the most important coke quality parameters into one general quality indicator. The correlation between this "global index" and the blast furnace productivity will be given.
