Treatment for Vertebral Pain Syndrome Associated with Osteochondrosis of Cervical and Thoracic Spine in Women with Menopausal Disorders

Vertebrogenic pathology plays a leading role among the diseases of peripheral nervous system. Incidence of cervical osteochondrosis increases with age, and the most severe clinical symptoms develop in women in menopause. Specific clinical symptoms of osteochondrosis of cervical and thoracic spine include polymorphous and poly-systemic health problems, which occur as a result of the disease spreading to both segmental and suprasegmental parts of the vegetative nervous system. The patients with osteochondrosis of cervical spine are known to frequently experience psychological and mental disorders, which may exacerbate clinical symptoms of the osteochondrosis. Menopausal syndrome, in its turn, has a significant effect upon the severity of pain syndrome in cervical and thoracic spine, which intensifies vegetovascular, psychological and mental symptoms, of menopausal syndrome. Vertebral pain syndrome (VPS) is one of the basic clinical symptoms of spine osteochondrosis, and its severity increases in women during peri- and postmenopausal period.
