In the 18–19 September exceptional weather conditions brought to the Scandinavia very hot air and long-range transported particles. In the paper a dust episode detected in Southern Finland, Estonia and Sweden is discussed. Short and long-range transport of dust to the target areas are simulated with a grid model Hilatar. It was found, that the dust was originating partly from the Estonian and Russian oil-shale using power plants, however, there was partly from the desert sand lifted up by wind in Kazachstan. Frequency of dust transport is discussed.
