The technology of refining paroxetine free base by short path distillation is studied in this paper. The effects of operating parameters like feed flow rate, feed temperature, distillation temperature, distillation pressure and rotor rate on the concentration of paroxetine free base have been studied. The appropriate process conditions obtained here from the experiment is: feed flow rate 60ml/h, feed temperature 80~100°C, rotor rate 130 rpm, distillation temperature 163°C and operating pressure 0.1 Pa. After four stages of separation, the concentration and the purity of the product rise from 62.3%, 79.3% to 99.31% and 99.92% respectively. The distillation rate of paroxetine free base is 50.84%.
