Many different grades of high-density polyethylene (IIDPE) are used in the production of injection molded rigid containers that are widely used in food packaging and promotional drink cups.' These grades are differentiated from each other by their physical properties, such as molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, density, comonomer type, and antioxidant level. Material physical properties and processing conditions often dictate end-use part performance. This paper investigates the relationship between injection molding cycle time manipulation via cooling time selection and the part performance of two grades of HDPE.
