摘要

Intramammary infections (IMI) exert a negative impact on milk quality, quantity, animal health, and profits, regardless of the species involved or the ultimate use of the milk. While clinical IMI clearly degrade milk quality, subclinical IMI can insidiously reduce milk production throughout a milking herd. Subclinical IMI also represent the preliminary stages of clinical mastitis. Knowledge of the incidence, seasonally and the bacterial species involved early in lactation helps dairy managers to respond appropriately by retesting, treating, or isolating. Understanding the origin of an IMI is particularly important if a contagious pathogenic organism such as Staphylococcus aureus is involved. Therefore, a sound Mastitis Control Program should include a monitoring system that detects IMI as early in a lactation as possible. This report presents the bacterial culture results of milk samples collected from fresh goats over the course of one year.
