With growing herd sizes the demand for automated and computerised solutions has increased. This has created a business opportunity for manufacturers of complete dairy herd management systems and a range of subcontractors developing sensors, software and consumables. A scientific input is also needed in order to combine available biological, chemical and statistical knowledge into workable solutions and to ensure further improvements.
