1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (HFC-245fa) is currently proposed as a substitute for CFCs in several applications. Experimental data on this fluid are still not sufficient to describe accurately its thermodynamic behaviour. Liquid density is one of the most important properties required to develop precise equations of state. At the state of the art, data from Defibaugh and Moldover (1997) are available, on which the REFPROP 6.0 database is based (McLinden et al., 1998) and also by Sotani and Kubota (1999). Saturated liquid and vapour density data are available from equations by Schmidt et al. (1996). The data reported in this paper were measured along 8 isotherms ranging from 283.15 K to 343.06 K at pressures up to 25 MPa. The paper presents also correlations for the compressed liquid by means of a Tait equation and the saturated liquid density.
