Operational Experience of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise 'Arktikmorneftergazrazvedka' on West Arctic Shelf and Perspectives of the Enterprise's Further Activity

1. At present, on the Russian Arctic sea shelf, a quite reliable geological and geophysical data base is still being created, which will be the basis for further purposeful aimed planning of oil and gas prospecting works, as well as licencing rounds conducting. 2. Within the Western Arctic shelf (the Barents and Kara Seas) a number of basins with already proved productivity has been revealed. The high proved perspective of the discovered oil and gas-bearing basins allows to consider them as a basis for oil and gas industry development in the Barents and Kara Seas regions in near future. 3. The discovered large and giant oil and gas fields in this new century may become the main hydrocarbon raw materials sources to meet the needs both within the country and abroad. At present, the state is aiming at the establishment of a stable legislation securing a favorable environment for future investors and develops a long-term program for licensing rounds conducting.
