Chromosome characterization of a set of tetraploid triticales by genome specifi microsatellites markers.

Tetraploid triticales (2n=4x=28) can be obtained by different ways. By crossing 6x triticale and rye, forms with 28 chromosomes can be obtained, 14 being from rye (RR), 14 from the wheat A and/or B diploid genomes, which could have undergone homoeologous recombination. This set can be called 'mixogenome; and constitutes a good model for 'introgressive hybridization'. Its chromosome characterisation is tedious and difficult by C-banding or RFLP. Genome specific microsatellites could give a more precise and easier answer on the chromosome composition of these new forms, and the occurrence of homoeologous recombination. We used 73 of such markers selected from their positions on the wheat reference maps ITMI and Courtot x Chinese Spring. Results concerning chromosome identification and homoeologous recombination are presented on a set of secondary tetraploid triticales.
