Crude soybean oil was adopted as the raw material for enzymatic production of biodiesel and phospholipids (PLs) content was found to have varied influence on enzymatic activity. Preincubation of lipase in oil could effectively enhance the methanolysis reaction rate and within the optimized conditions, the highest methyl ester yield of 94% could be achieved, which demonstrates that enzymatic transesterification from some crude oil sources is very promising for biodiesel production.
