Pyrolysis (carbonization) has been proposed to be one of the hopeful recycling and disposing technologies for waste products. Carbonization involves heating under reductive conditions; therefore dioxin exhausted is smaller even though it was done under critical conditions such as high chlorine content and low temperature. A small amount of dioxin was observed in the carbon product and the emitted gas. Secondly, leaching process from carbon products manufactured from sludge was studied. The leaching characteristics depended on the soil texture, but pH generally increased and EC dropped abruptly with increase in the amount of water passing through the sample. Carbon products from sludge as already reported can improve soil physical properties, and in addition they could improve the nutrient conditions of soil for crop production. This is a good incentive for farmland application.
