The uneven wear of the surfaces of work roll and backup roll is a major cause for influencing on the plate profile, and for the roll spalling and rupture. The wear of work roll and backup roll in plate mills is serious and intricate. Based on the combination of the theoretical study and the actual measurements, the prediction models of rolls wear are built up. Their coefficients are efficaciously optimized by SAA with memory. It is a new way to study such problem as confirming the coefficients in a function that is of multiple extreme, high non-linearity and large calculation. The Rolls Wear Models can be used to predict the wear profiles of work roll and backup roll and the crown of plates. By applying the models developed, the plate shape has been improved notably and higher economic profit has been achieved.
