摘要

The Afghan war spearheaded by the United States and implemented by a multinational coalition with Great Britain and Australia as principal partners and several other nations including Russia as supporting members was waged 6,000 miles away from the US. It required coordinating British troops, US Marines, US Airforce and the US Navy. Logistical elements to be addressed on a real time basis included: air support, transportation, choice of ordnance; ground support; intelligence and coordination with various local elements. Handling of humanitarian aid to the affected Afghan civilians and handling war detainees (POW's) posed additional challenges. This paper addresses these and other logistics challenges still being faced.
