Interaction of sulphur-containing substances with silver halogenides results in a formation of the impurity centres on the surface of microcrystals. The nature and properties of these centres are yet insufficiently studied at the present time. Adsorption of ions, atoms, small atomic silver clusters, molecules and clusters of sulphur and silver sulphide and other particles determines surface properties of microcrystals. Investigations of these properties can reveal the nature of photosensitivity of microcrystals as well as the mechanism of initial stage of photographic process and the role of all impurity centres in this process. In the work we studied the process of formation and decomposition of the sparse sulphur-silver clusters having chemosorption bonds with AgCl microcrystals; possibly, these clusters play an important role in the process of light interaction with AgCl.
