摘要

The cornerstone of the Toyohari style acupuncture is the 'pulse'. It provides diagnostic assessment for, and feedback on, the success of the contact (non-insertion) and insertion needling techniques. In adapting a contact needling style to animals, the use of the pulse will need to be addressed. The motivation to do so rests with the rewards of the subtle manipulation of qi and with the advantage contact needling has for animals over insertion needling. The literature of Fukushima (1991) the founderand former President of the Toyohari Association, and Birch and Junko (1998) and Birch and Felt (1999), and the study with Takai (President of th Toyohari Association), Birch, Movessian and Pearson (2002), teachers to non-Japanese students of the Toyohari Meridian Therapy Style Brisbane trainning, are the bases for this review.
