The proteasome is an intracelllular multicatalytic protease complex that is involved in the ubiquitin (Ub)-dependent and Ub-independent degradation of proteins implicated in critical intracellular regulatory cascades (e.g.mitotic cycle,cell growth and viability,antigen presentation or inflammatory response).
