We present a integrated dynamic micro array device that hydrodynamically traps a large number of particles in an array and selectively retrieves immobilized particles. This device can also release all the trapped particles by simply reversing the flow direction. These trapping and releasing operation are extremely simple, robust, and highly efficient. With this device, we succeeded in arraying polystyrene beads, retrieving immobilized beads selectively by laser focusing, and subsequently releasing all the trapped beads in a few minutes. This practical dynamic microarray will have many applications in cellomics studies and drug screening.
