The Impact of ICT on Learning at a Distance: Working Group 3.6

摘要

Information and Communication technologies have helped to remove the isolation of learning at a distance and changed the nature of distance education. The discussion examined this change and how it has affected school, college and higher education students who have no choice but to learn at a distance as well as those who are choosing to use ICT for flexible access to online classes and resources. Four major themes emerged: Acculteration, Authentication and the flexibility of design of hardware and software, Support, management and professional development of distance education teachers and Flexibility of learning for adults through ICT. An over-riding theme was the effects of culture on the use of ICT for education.
