摘要

Researches about the aerodynamics of wind turbine with straight wing vertical axis (SW-VAWT) are very limited, in spite of a number of advantages such as low dependence on wind direction variation and easy constructible straight blades. A demerit of SW-VAWT is its poor rotation start performance. In order to find improvements for this problem, this paper deals with the flow behavior inside and around the wind turbine. Calculations have shown that high solidity is important to guarantee performance of SW-VAWT. This paper presents outline and results of these calculations.
