It has been reported that barley chromosome 5H has genes for early-heading function in the wheat genome. To introduce the barley genes for early-heading on chromosome 5H into wheat, we are progressing to produce wheat-barley 5H chromosome recombinant lines using 5B nullisomy and DNA markers. For the effective screening of recombinants involving 5H, we developed 18 barley-allele specific PCR markers (amplicons) that can be distinguished from their wheat counterparts without restriction enzyme digestion. Among 482 progenies of the line with nullisomic-5N, trisomic-5A, and monosomic-5H (19~(Ⅱ) II + 5A~(Ⅲ)+ 5H~Ⅰ ), seven plants having putative wheat-barley recombinant chromosomes were identified by using the 5H allele-specific am-plicon markers.
