摘要

By taking into consideration surface strain distribution and crack closure, a model is presented that predicts the threshold stress for crack growth. This stress increases to a maximum at the fatigue limit when the crack reaches a predictable critical size. In addition, the model is capable of determining the crack initiation stress and depth of non-propagating cracks of aluminum alloys cycled under constant stress or strain amplitudes.
