This paper deals with comparative study of the influence of different means of cooling on the performance of simple combined gas/steam cycle and co-generation plants. All possible open and closed loop cooling with air, water and steam as the cooling medium have been considered. The prediction is based on the modeling of various elements of simple combined gas/steam cycle considering the real situation. The study shows that open loop water-cooling and closed loop steam-cooling are superior as compared to air-cooling. Closed loop steam cooling is the promising option as its technology is now available.
