Treatment of Acute Polyradiculoneuritis by Acupuncture

Acute polyradiculoneuritis is an immune-mediated disease characterized by acute inflammation of multiple nerve roots and peripheral nerves. Considering Traditional Chinese Medicine, is a Wei Bi Syndrome and points were chosen based according to this syndrome. The aim of this case report was to investigate the effect of acupuncture in two cases of polyradiculoneuritis. The dogs were treated once a week with manual acupuncture in the points LI-10, ST-36, Bai Hui and SP-6. The results showed that acupuncture improved the clinical signs of tetraparesia/plegia in both cases.
