Local soil conditions and earthquake damage in the town of Aiquile - Bolivia

This paper presents an evaluation of the seismic response of soil deposits in the town of Aiquile (Bolivia), during the earthquake of May 1998. which registered a magnitude of 6.8 in the Richter scale. In-situ tests including electrical resistivity,standard penetration (SPT) and the spectral analysis of surface waves (SASW) were performed after the earthquake. A provisional microzonation map of the area is proposed.
