Supporting metadata interoperability: Trends and Issues

摘要

Metadata interoperability has direct impacts on information sharing, interchange, and accessibility across the boundaries of systems, languages, and geographic locations. It also enables minimizing the amount of time needed to create and maintain a metadata shatdard and maximizing its usefulness to the widest community of users. The paper discusses emerging trends in metadata interoperability and issues related to metadata crosswalks and mapping practice.
