Topic 16 Cluster Computing

We would like to welcome readers to the Cluster Computing topic of Euro-Par 2001 that was held in the British city of Manchester in the summer of 2001. Without doubt clusters are now the platform of choice for most scientific, engineering, commercial and industrial applications. In addition, as evidence from a casual browse through these proceedings of Euro-Par 2001 reveals, clusters, of one form or another, are being used for research and development by most of the topics within the conference.
