Two kinds of waterborne acrylic polyols (single step and multi step synthesis type) have been investigated for their performance in a 2K-PU application. Both waterborne polyois give good results in terms of application, hardness and chemical stability at low induction times and when elevated temperatures can be used. The polyol based on the single step synthesis route is superior in potlife, hardness and chemical stability. Even at ambient temperature a good performance level can be obtained with the single step polymer. The extraordinarily low VOC level of 90 g/l or 0,8 lb/gal indicates, that this kind of polyol already fits the demands of the VOC regulations, which will have to be considered in the near future.
