Magnetic nanoparticles are currently investigated due to their potential biomedical applications as imaging, therapeutic or theranostic agents. Among the magnetic materials, ferrites possess various advantages. The main one is the ample diversity of preparation methodologies, which allow to tailor their magnetic properties. In this work, bi-magnetic core-shell ferrites were synthesized by a wet chemical route. This preparation process enhances their magnetic properties (magnetic saturation, M_s), which also increases the specific loss power (SLP) and relaxometry (r_2) values for magnetic fluid hyperthermia and MRI contrast, when compared to the results of the core alone.
