Mineral resource prediction based on integration of remote sensing and GIS in Dayao-Wangxian region, northeastern Hunan Province, China.

Dayao-Wangxian region is located in the noutheastem part of Hunan Province, South China. It is a region of high goldand lead-zinc mineral potential in China. This article shows the successful implementation of GIS technology for goldnonferrous metal resource prediction in the subtropical monsoon climate and lush vegetation region. In order to enhancethe credibility of ore-finding, three kinds of information (alteration abnormal, lineament) are extracted from ETM+image data. By making full use of the geological, geophysical, geochemical, and remote sensing data, we predict 9 firstgrade and 5 second grade ore-finding prospective areas in this region. About 90% of the known gold, copper andantimony mineral occurrences are located in these areas.
