It is a rare practice that can't do some cost trimming without affecting the quality of the operations. Don't assume that your practice is one of the few that has costs perfectly under control. All employees should be responsible for keeping an eye oncosts, but the final responsibility needs to be with the practice manager (if there is one) and with the owner. Certain parts of these responsibilities can be delegated, but ultimately, the manager and/or owner will need to decide if the job is done right. Owners should be involved in this oversight even if there are good systems in place.
