Melt granulation with kollidon~direct R SR for the Manufacture of sustained-release tablets

Matrix tablets can be manufactured using different techniques (1). The most popular method besides direct tableting is wet granulation followed by tableting. Much more rarely, melt granulation is used due to the absence of suitable sustained-release agents. This relatively simple technique, however, is highly interesting for the formulation of water-sensitive drugs (2). Kollidon~direct R SR is a product which because of its outstanding properties should be suitable both for direct tableting and melt granulation.
