摘要

Since late 1998 there have been numerous isolations of H3N2 swine influenza virus (SIV) from severe outbreaks of respiratory disease in swine herds throughout the U.S.A. Molecular characterization of these isolates indicates that these viruses represent the products of a genetic re-assortments between human, swine, and avian viral genes. Sequencing of the hemagglutinin (HA) genes indicates that, except for the original North Carolina isolate, most H3N2 isolates from the U.S. are genetically similar. This study examines the ability of a bivalent H1N1/H3N2 SIV vaccine to protect swine against virulent challenge with both H1N1 and H3N2 viruses.
