Exploiting the unique properties of holographic optical elements, a novel design for the receiver optical subsystem used in Multi-Spot Diffusing Configuration (MSDC) is proposed. With a holographic spherical mirro (HSM) as an optical front-end, the receiver would achieve significant improvements in the electrical signal-to-noise ratio compared to a bare functionality of the HSM, its small size, light weight, and low-cost make it a promising candidate for a users portable equipment in broadband indoor wireless multimedia access.
