Feedwater preheating with Rolls-Royce Trent Gas Turbines

This paper shows that tailor-made multi-fuel power plant, such as Avedore 2, or repowered systems with retrofitted gas turbines (both based on the simple integration of aeroderivative gas turbines) can provide profitable solutions to flexible load despatch requirements and fuel price variations. This is achieved by intrinsically lower investment costs, high efficiency and fuel flexibility. For some systems, particularly those operating in tropical conditions, this could include the option of intake chilling. Future systems may also include intercooling to provide enhanced efficiency and additional turndown capability, or steam injection in order to cover peak load demands at high efficiency. In this respect, SK Power and Rolls-Royce are jointly developing the full capability to design and provide an optimised system of this type taking into account the existing power plants design, condition, infrastructure, and fuel requirements into account.
