The performance of a non-circulating current cycle-converter controlled motor has been simulated and analyzed on MATLAB in this paper. The driver system is controlled by cosine wave firing method. For a 3-phase motor working on non-sinusoidal supply waveforms, the paper discussed the harmonic behavior of the system, such as actual fundament output voltage values, the harmonics distributing characteristics of voltage, currents and torque waves. Conclusions derived from simulation results provide the design basis for the overall system to achieve the practical usage, and the designing of auxiliary active filter that aimed at suppressing the harmonies produced by cycloconvericr systems is also included in this paper.
