摘要

A new round-off truing method is proposed to precisely form a grinding wheel of toroidal shape. In this method, a grinding wheel is circularly moved around an abrasive stick using the circular interpolation of a CNC machine. During the consecutive circular motions and down feeds, the wheel and the stick grind each other and their profiles are gradually formed into a round shape. In this paper, an appropriateness of this method is investigated through the computer simulation. The curvature radius settles a certain value which can be geometrically expected. The wear ratio of the abrasives hardly influences the settled radius. Proposed truing method can be applied to the precision round-off truing regardless of the composition of the abrasives and size of the stick.
