The Quadrature Element Method (QEM) is applied to the free vibration analysis of circular Kirchhoff plates with intermediate support ring. The vibration frequencies are computed for various boundary conditions at the outer edge and compared with available solutions. Significant discrepancies are found which the authors believe are attributed to the calculating errors in some early publications. The curves of dimentsionless fundamental frequency against the ratio of the support ring radius to the outer-edge radius are provided which can serve as benchmark values for numerical methods as well as design data for engineers.
