Relining of the Sidmar blast furnace B in 2001

Preliminary discussions relating to the modernization and relining of blast furnace B started in 1996, because the initial relining was planned in 1998. Due to the excellent hearth behaviour, the installation of copper staves in 1995 and 1996 and an improved control of the stack wall heat load it was possible to extend the campaign to 2001. The result of the relining is a fine new furnace with an annual capacity of 2.05 million tonnes equipped with the latest measuring devices.
