Indoor radon levels in the environs of Guru Nanak Dev University campus

This paper presents the results of radon measurements carried out in and around Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) campus using SSNTD technique . The method used involved exposing small stripes of LR-115 Type II films in the bare mode . The estimated levels of radon and its progeny vary from 38.8 to 174.6 Bq/ m~3 and from 5.2 to 23.6 mWL respectively. For sake of comparison indoor radon measurements were also carried out using Alpha Guard and it has been observed that integrated measurements using plastic detectors gives higher values of radon concentration in the dwellngs.
