The production and evaluation of submicro titaniumdioxide powders for photocatalytic degradation in wastewatertreatment were described in this paper. Ultrafine titania powderswere produced by the vapour phase hydrolysis of TTIP. Thephotoactivity of the powders was evaluated using phenol as amodel pollutant. The effects of production and calcinationconditions on photoactivity were investigated. It was found thatproduction temperature, residence time, H_2O to TTIP mole ratio,and calcination temperature influenced the properties of powdersproduced. Typically, titania powders with a large surface area,produced at high temperatures had the higher photoactivities.
